Orthodontics for teenagers
Adolescence is the ideal time to undertake most comprehensive orthodontic corrections. The majority of orthodontic clients are in this age group, between 11 and 18 years old.
Importance of dental treatment in adolescence
Although individual variations exist in the growth and development of individuals, for example some people may be early while others are slower to develop, the age of 11 to 13 corresponds to a period when the permanent dentition is almost complete while still having growth potential which may be essential to correct certain imbalances affecting the jaws.
Treatments undertaken in early adolescence are often simpler, faster, and may require fewer extractions of permanent teeth or complex procedures such as jawbone surgeries. However, orthodontic corrections are possible at any age in healthy individuals.
