The adult’s first date
During your first appointment at the Al Dente dental clinic, a complete overall examination of your mouth will be suggested.
During this first meeting, we will take the time to discuss with you your priorities and your needs. We will then proceed with data collection.
- First, various digital x-rays relevant to your situation will be taken along with photos to assess your dental condition.
- We will then check your teeth, gums, mucous membranes, posture and jaw joints (TMJ).
- We will take a closer look at your dental plaque/biofilm bacteria under the microscope (these are a contributing factor to gum disease and dental problems).
- Finally, we will also screen for oral cancers.
Dental Health Checkup
During your appointment, your dentist will examine your teeth and your mouth. This examination allows him to establish a diagnosis and to propose, if necessary, the most appropriate treatment plan.
The abnormalities and diseases that can be detected are multiple:
- Cavities
- Dental infections, including abscesses
- Loosening of the teeth, i.e. insufficient amount of gum tissue to retain teeth properly in the jaw.
- Periodontal and gingival disease, the two main ones being gingivitis and periodontitis
- Various lesions that can reveal mouth cancer, among others.

Follow-up after the exam
Following the complete examination, we may need to meet again to discuss the treatment plan that has been developed for you based on your needs. We may also have diagnosed a situation that deserves special attention, such as:
- Need for implant,
- Mandibular Joint Disorder,
- Orthodontics, etc.
At this time, we must plan a new meeting to get more information in order to finalize our file and give you all the important information related to your overall dental health.
Diagnosis and presentation of treatment plan
Once all the examinations are complete, the dentist will take the time to explain the current state of your mouth to you. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask your dentist.
Usually, a meeting is necessary to discuss treatment options. During this meeting to present your treatment plan, the dental hygienist will explain the steps of the treatment as well as the costs related to the options.
Financial Agreement
Once the treatment plan has been well explained and understood, a financial agreement can be made to help you plan the sequence of appointments according to your schedule and your budget. Several payment options are available to you.
If you have dental insurance, the treatment plan can be sent to them so that you have an idea of possible reimbursement by it.
