Dental implant
An implant to replace a tooth
An implant is simply an anchor, (a false root) that integrates with the bone and reproduces the action of the roots of the teeth! The implant can replace one or more teeth.
When one or more teeth have been lost, the bone surrounding them quickly resorbs. The other teeth begin to shift position and loosen, which often leads to gum disease and jaw pain.
Why an implant instead of a bridge or partial?
- Because an implant preserves the integrity of neighboring teeth;
- Because an implant is the most aesthetic long-term treatment;
- Because an implant stops bone loss;
- Because with an implant, you will stop being afraid that your partial will fall out in public and will regain your confidence;
- Because an implant is the most durable solution of all the treatments offered in dentistry and the most economical in the long term;
- Because we use the PRGF technique, you will heal faster and feel less discomfort following the surgery;
- A friendly team, assisted by state-of-the-art technology, will accompany you throughout your treatment.
What happens when you lose your teeth?
When teeth are extracted, there is also a loss of much of the bone material that holds the teeth in place.
Indeed, once the tooth is removed, the surrounding bone will quickly resorb and lose its volume. The dental roots naturally transfer masticatory forces to the jaw bones, providing them with the stimulation necessary for constant reconstruction. If these roots are absent, the bone no longer “exercises” and this lost volume will have to be replaced, either by a larger prosthesis or by a bone filler. This factor will also have a significant impact on the choice of treatment that will be suggested to a client.
Maintenance of the single implant
Dental implants look and feel the same as natural teeth. The long-term success of your implants depends on adopting good oral hygiene habits. Remember that the longevity of your implants is directly related to the health of your gums and adjacent bone. Optimal oral health will ensure that your implants will last a lifetime. Treat them like natural teeth: brush your teeth, floss, and don’t forget to visit your dentist regularly.
